Fit India School Week

KIIT World School is focusing on enhancing the Physical and Mental Health of Students. We want to create an awareness on importance of being healthy and fit by engaging in various physical activities and inculcating good eating habits. Keeping all this in mind, KIIT World School is celebrating the FIT INDIA SCHOOL WEEK from 23rd December 2019 to 28th December 2019 comprising of several fitness-related activities including sports, games, yoga, aerobics, poster –making competition, talk on nutrition, debate and essay writing competition for students, staff and Parents. The prime objective of the program is to indulge all school children in active field time.

DAY: 1

In view of nationwide awareness, KIIT World School, Sohna Road, Gurugram has organized FIT INDIA SCHOOL WEEK and it started with great enthusiasm and all the participants participated in the event with great fervour, vitality and team spirit. Approximately 217 students from class I to IX participated in Day 1 Activities.

The Yoga Session began with Yoga asanas and various activities revolving around fitness and nutrition such as Surya Namaskar, Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Adho Mukho Svanasana, Trikonasana and many more fitness activities. Followed by Yoga asanas, students also shared their insights upon consumption and application of organic products in our daily life. Students were enthused and motivated with the activities today and promised to make it a part of their daily life.

FIT INDIA SCHOOL - DAY-1

DAY: 2

KIIT profoundly believe that children are nation builders and fully understand this responsibility and lays emphasis on physical development, mental strength and emotional maturity to help them become healthy and responsible human beings. A healthy body is a home to healthy mind and hence health has always been our priority. The 100 percent participation is a multi-pronged strategy for the development of psychomotor, cognitive and creative skills in each child.

After the successful completion of 1st day of Fit India School Week, KIIT World School observed its 2nd day with great ostentation. It was day of new lease of life. The day unfolded with: -

  • Physical activities: Aerobics and Rope skipping
  • Poster making Competition on theme “Fit Body – Fit Mind – Fit Environment”
  • Essay/Poem Writing Competition on theme “Fit India School”

The basic idea was to sensitize each learner towards importance of fitness through various channels. Students participated in all activities with full fervour.

FIT INDIA SCHOOL - DAY-2

DAY: 3

The 3rd day of Fit India School started with a lecture and training in Martial Arts, organized & delivered by sports psychologist Mr. Shithil Das. Physical aspects of exercise and Martial Arts training improve child’s general health; it likewise improves emotional health with increased self-esteem and self-confidence as well as decreased tension, stress, anxiety and depression. In Martial Art session, focus was on self defence, teamwork, positive social interaction, self-control, good decision making, balance and posture, memorization and retention, self-discipline and responsibility, physical fitness and healthy living, self-esteem and confidence building, stranger awareness and personal safety, last but not the least discipline. Special emphasis was laid upon on learning self defence techniques. Students actively participated and enjoyed the whole session and understood the value of a disciplined and healthy life.

FIT INDIA SCHOOL - DAY-3

DAY: 4

DEBATE

KIIT World School started the 4th day of Fit India School week passionately. The day was ignited with joy and fervour. The programme culminated in a debate competition which was held in the school auditorium. Students from class 6 to 9 participated in this competition. Two topics were given for the debate- Mental Health vs Physical Fitness and Mechanised Fitness vs Traditional Fitness. The students came up with current issues like, suicide, crime, thefts, murders and other physical abuses which are related to mental health. They even narrated inspirational stories of Stephen Hawkins and Kartiki Patel whose mental ability overpowered over their physical disability. It was a pleasure to watch the students arguing and counter arguing with substantial subject matter. The aim of the competition was to enhance public speaking skills of the students and teach them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions.

EK BHARAT-SHRESHTHA BHARAT

To celebrate the unity in diversity of our nation and strengthen the fabric of traditionally existing emotional bonds between the people of our country, KIIT celebrated “Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat”. A lot of sports activities were conducted to inculcate respect for diverse cultures and traditions of Incredible India among children. Under this banner, KIIT World School organised Telangana sports activities in school. Students enjoyed many sports activities Kho-Kho, Tug of war, Musical Chair and Pitthu game of Telangana. It was a great way of connecting students to their culture and they thoroughly enjoyed it.

FIT INDIA SCHOOL - DAY-4

DAY: 5

The week-long Fit India School Week event culminated with the tournaments for parents and teachers, along with other fun loving activities, designed to raise awareness and build excitement about the joy of fitness!

Under this program KIIT World school has organised different activities for fitness and sports for the parents, teaching and non-teaching staff with the aim of sensitizing them towards good health. Everyone participated enthusiastically and improved the knowledge of fitness elements and the uniqueness overloaded with indigenous games of kho-kho, kabaddi, pithu and rassa- kasse (tug of war) were played among the teachers and the parents to keep them active and agile.
